New Philadelphia to Incorporate NaviGate City-Wide
Mar. 01, 2012
The use of NaviGate will better help the city manage building plans, incidents, and documents
NEW PHILADELPHIA, OH – March 1, 2012 – The city of New Philadelphia, Ohio has partnered with Lauren Innovations to install the NaviGate critical information management system throughout the city. This city-wide project will begin with the police department through the use of the NaviGate incident management reporting system, and will continue through other branches of the city government for seamless integration between departments. Jim Hummel, Vice President of Lauren Innovations commented on Lauren Innovations’ behalf “We are pleased to have the opportunity to partner with the City of New Philadelphia. Instant access to up-to-date information is critical to any emergency response. We are excited to see the integrated capabilities of NaviGate being implemented into the city’s daily operations.”
With support from Mayor Mike Taylor of the city of New Philadelphia, this project is well on its way to making for a more effective community. Mayor Taylor commented that “Partnering with Lauren Innovations to implement the NaviGate information system provides the city with an opportunity to use a new technology to more efficiently operate its departments and serve its citizens.”
The city chose the New Philadelphia Police Department (NPPD) to begin the installation due to the robust incident management tracking system within NaviGate. The NPPD will now be able to move from traditional hand-written reports to a cloud-based electronic records management system. When a call is received into the police department, dispatchers can create, monitor, and track incidents. Officers will record incident details into the same system and will have real-time access to all historic data – looking up person, address, and vehicle history right from the police cruiser. The city’s detectives can use the same electronic record to document and store all information related to the follow-up investigation – keeping all the information in one place. This change moves the department from a largely paper-based system to a fully electronic records management system.
“Ultimately the possibilities utilizing NaviGate are endless”, said Police Chief Jeff Urban. “The biggest advantage to using NaviGate will be the ability to easily access all information relating to a call or case instantly from any cruiser’s computer. This includes videos from the city’s security systems and files relating to dispatch calls. The officer will have everything they need before they even get out of their car. The goal is for NaviGate to change the way we currently are keeping all of our records to provide heightened security and seamless organization.”
This ongoing project is slated to continue throughout the year, partnership with NPPD is the beginning of this year-long project.
